End of Week 6

Hi everyone,

We hope you had a fun and relaxing Thanksgiving Holiday with family and friends. We celebrated a beautiful Thanksgiving Mass together at Holy Martyrs of Japan Church on Tuesday (bus mixups notwithstanding!) where the students gave a warm and appreciative welcome to Fr. Josh. He is a young and energetic priest who loves working with teens. He plans to spend time in the school talking to the kids -- and even helping with Math!

I'm happy to report that we are once again sending out attendance e-mails for students who are late or absent. This is part of our commitment to ensure we have timely and relevant communication with you. We had one minor glitch on Wednesday where some parents got conflicting messages. Sorry about that -- we did fix the issue and it should all run smoothly now. We'll also be sending notification e-mails for minor behaviour issues such as cell phone use in class, uniform infractions, being unprepared for class, etc. It helps us out tremendously when you support us by reviewing/reaffirming school rules with your teen at home!

Interim reports were sent home this week. Please be sure to ask your teen for it as all students received one. Parent-Teacher Interviews are scheduled for next Thursday from 5-7:30 pm by appointment. Please set your appointments for interviews by using School Day, our online parent portal. You will need your personalized registration code to sign up. Your teen should have it, or you can contact the office for another copy. We have more than 400 interviews scheduled so thank you!

Next Tuesday at 7pm is a parent information evening for students interested in attending the New York trip this coming spring.

And don't miss 11:30 Mass on Sunday at HMJ Church as we say farewell to Sr. Jean Doyle, an Ursuline nun here in Bradford, who is retiring. She is the last of the Ursuline Sisters who taught in the Bradford Catholic Schools. The Ursuline Sisters were the ones who started Catholic Education in Bradford. There was St. Mary's convent on Fredrick St. and beside the convent was the first Catholic school, also know as St. Mary's. The school no longer exists, but the work of the Ursulines gave rise to all of the Catholic Schools in Bradford.

God bless, and looking forward to seeing you on Parent-Teacher Night!
