End of Week 6
Published on Mar 22, 2019 18:11

Hi everyone,

I hope you were as happy as I was to see the official return of Spring this week. We have a lot of things on the go as we head into rest of the school year.

Today we welcomed our grade 8 feeder school students for the Tiger Games which is one of our transition activities. It's a great day full of fun activities, a cafeteria lunch, and chance for the students to get to know each other a little bit.

Next week we have the Ontario Secondary Schools Literacy Test for our Grade 10 students (and any grade 11/12 students who missed or were unsuccessful in previous years). A reminder that we have a late start for our grade 9, 11, and 12 students. The school day starts at the regular time for those writing the test, and buses will run at their normal time for them. For the 9's, 11's and 12's, the buses will run exactly 3 hours later and classes will start at 12:30.

In an effort to improve communications our Board Communications department is implementing a new software tool that will work with our Student Information System. In order to get things up and running we need to collect some information from you. Please take a few moments to submit information to this data information form. We need your e-mail address, home contact number and your teen's student number. This will ensure that we properly connect your contact information through your teen's student account.

Please click/tap here to access the form.

Don't forget that Summer School Registration is now open for students. If your teen needs to recover a credit or take a new course please contact Ms. Nadon in Guidance. Credit recovery courses will be offered here at HT while new credits will be offered at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Barrie. Transportation is provided.

Of course, another reminder of Parent-Teacher Interview Night next Thursday. Please register for interviews through School-Day. Interviews are 5 minutes in duration and designed to be a quick check-in with teachers. If you believe you will need more than 5 minutes please contact the teacher(s) and make alternate arrangements. This will keep the night moving and give all parents a chance to have their interviews. If the teacher you wish to see is unavailable or booked up, we will keep sign-up lists for parents to request follow-up contact. Mid-term reports will be sent home in about another month or so. You'll hear more about them as the date draws near.

I hope you have a great weekend

God bless,

Brian McKenzie
