End of Week 18
Published on Jan 18, 2019 18:05

Hi everyone

This is the final Friday of classes as the last day of Semester 1 is next Wednesday. Students are hard at work finishing CCT's and preparing for final exams which begin Thursday. Last week I shared the exam schedule and inclement weather procedures, so please be sure to check your e-mail.

Here is the exam schedule -- please be sure your teen is on time and prepared for the correct exam each day.

Thanks to the parents and students who attended our Ecuador Mission Trip information night on Wednesday. Students who wish to participate but could not attend the meeting should see Mr. McLaughlin as soon as possible. We will be handing out student participation applications on Monday January 21. All students in grade 10, 11 and 12 next year are eligible to participate in this exciting 3-credit travel program.

A few weeks ago I shared some useful information about cannabis (marijuana) use. I've recently received more information and some links to resources for your use. Please have a look as they provide great information for parents about the health effects, including mental health, of cannabis use.

As I mentioned before, if you have concerns about your teen's use of any drugs, including alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, or cannabis, please contact the school for advice.

The Board has prepared a draft 2019-2020 school year calendar. Please have a look and if you have any comments send them via email to [email protected] by February 28, 2019.

We are looking forward to welcoming some new students to the school in semester 2, as well as two new teachers: Mrs. Nicole Fox, who transferred from St. Marie of the Incarnation in September but has been on maternity leave; and Ms. Danielle Giles, a new hire who has also been on maternity leave since September. Mrs. Fox teaches social sciences and Ms. Giles teaches English.

Unfortunately this also means we say farewell to two of our LTO teachers who have been with us since September filling in for Mrs. Fox and Ms. Giles: Ms. Arromba and Ms. Moor. God bless them both as they move on to the next stage of their teaching careers. They are outstanding young teachers and we look forward to having them back as soon as possible.

I hope you all have a wonderful, restful, and enjoyable weekend.

God bless,

Brian McKenzie
Principal
