End of Week 1
Published on Sep 7, 2018 18:09

Hi everyone

We are very happy to have all our students back from summer vacation. A special shout out to our new families who endured more than a little nervousness as their teens started in a strange new school. I hope they are feeling a little better and I'm confident they have received a warm Trinity welcome.

As you know, we have grown considerably this year -- we are up 80+ students over last year, which is wonderful. But growth, of course, brings some challenges. We are asking for your assistance again this year with pick up and drop procedures. There are new signs and arrows in the lot to help guide you when you are picking up and dropping off your teen. It is very important that you follow these guides to ensure student safety.

In the back lot please enter, turn left and make a long loop out to the edge of the building (see  the diagram below). Please do not stop and do a quick U-Turn as this causes traffic to back up out onto the road. As well, please do not turn right and attempt to drop off near the back doors of the school. This causes further congestion and blocks our emergency access route.

In the front lot, please enter and drive west along the median, then loop back east and follow the arrows and signs to the middle lane for drop off/pick up. Please do not bear right and enter the bus loading/unloading zone. See the diagram below for directions.

We also ask for your patience and good humour. If someone has entered the lot improperly, please avoid blowing horns and yelling. This needlessly escalates a minor problem and -- more importantly -- embarrasses your teen(s). We strive every day to teach the students the importance of peaceful conflict resolution. Help us by setting a positive example. Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

Parking Passes

If you allow your teen to take a car to school, please note we will be issuing parking passes. There is no cost for this, and we are implementing this for staff and student safety as we sometimes have unauthorized vehicles, dangerous driving and other inappropriate activities involving cars in our parking lot. Next week we will be asking students who bring a car to fill out a short form with basic vehicle information (make, model, colour, license plate) which we will maintain on file in the office. Laminated dashboard passes will be issued. Please assist us by ensuring that you or your teen completes this information.
