End of Week 2

Hi everyone

We had an exciting and fun Winter (formerly Christmas) Activity Day today. Our students once again took part in this annual tradition and took advantage of opportunities to engage in activities they might not ordinarily do. Huge thanks go out to Mr. Burke for his work in putting this day together (twice!) and to all the teachers who supervised the events. Thanks also to parents for footing the bills, and to the students for their enthusiasm in participating. We look forward to doing it all again next year.

We also celebrated the beginning of Lent with the distribution of ashes on Ash Wednesday. Thanks to Jenny Reitzel, our Parish Music Ministry leader, and the choir for the beautiful music, along with Fr. Manny and Deacon Dave for leading the liturgy.

Pancake Tuesday breakfast was delicious. The Misters Viveiros and their students did a wonderful job of preparing several thousand pancakes for our staff and students to eat. We also distributed Valentine's Day Candy Grams on Tuesday as a mini fundraiser for the prom. Thanks to Mrs. Nogalo and the prom committee for their organizational work.

There is an important meeting for parents of students interested in attending the D-Day Commemoration trip next year on Wednesday February 21 at 7 pm in the library. The staff leadership team and representatives from EF Tours will be on hand to provide an overview of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and answer your questions.

We will have our next Parent Council meeting on Monday March 5 at 6 pm. We need to know who is planning to attend, so please reply using this link. I heard from a parent that there was difficulty using the form. My apologies if you tried and were unable to make it work. It has been corrected.

Don't forget Monday is the Family Day holiday so students have a day off. As well, March Break is just around the corner (March 12-16) followed closely by Easter (Sunday, April 1). Second semester always seems to go faster than first. Next thing we'll be back in the warm weather.

Also, if you have recently changed your phone number, please take a moment to let us know by calling the office. We rely on up-to-date contact information to get in contact with you. As well, if you are planning to move - or have moved recently - keep us in the loop as there may be busing implications as well. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

On behalf of the entire staff I wish you a very happy Family Day weekend.

God Bless

Brian McKenzie
