End of Week 17
Published on Jan 12, 2018 18:09

Hi everyone

Happy New Year to all of you, and we hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas (despite the cold temperatures).

We have a number of activities in the coming weeks leading into final exams:

  • We are pleased to announce that our next Mission Program will be in spring 2019. Our destination is Tanzania, in East Africa. Students in grade 10, 11, 12 (preferably 11 and 12) may apply. Successful applicants will take a multi-credit academic program in Religion, Social Justice and Co-operative Education to prepare for the two-week Mission experience overseas. Parents are invited to attend an information session on Wednesday January 17 at 6pm in the library. Representatives from Me to We and EF Tours will be on hand to answer questions.
  • Grade 9 EQAO math assessment will take place January 18th & 19th for students taking Math this semester. Please do not schedule appointments for your teen on those days if he or she is writing the assessment.
  • Festival of the Arts takes place Tuesday January 23 at 6pm. All parents and families are invited to attend this wonderful showcase of student artistic achievement this semester.
  • Final Exams are scheduled for January 25-30 (with January 31 reserved as a back-up day in case of weather cancellations. Students generally write in the morning from 9-10:30. Please do not schedule appointments or any out of town trips for any of the exam days. There are 2 PA days following the exams. Please note: Semester 2 classes resume on Monday February 5, 2018, not Friday February 2nd as previously reported. Sorry for the mixup!

Another reminder for parents of grade 12 students who haven't completed their 40 hours of volunteer work. This is a graduation requirement. If your teen needs suggestions we have plenty of community opportunities available. Please contact Mr. MacGregor, Chaplaincy Team Leader.

Please travel safely this weekend as more snow is forecast.

God Bless,

Brian McKenzie
