End of Week 5
Published on Oct 6, 2017 18:14

Hi everyone,

I hope you are continuing to enjoy the late summer weather, and are looking forward to the long Thanksgiving weekend. We have much to be thankful for in our community and our country, and we are blessed to have such a wonderful school.

Teachers are completing their Early Communication Letters which will be sent home next week. You are invited to attend Parent-Teacher interview evening on October 19 (even if your teen's teachers do not have any concerns). Interviews are by appointment through School-Day, our online tool (www.school-day.com). If you haven't created your account yet, this is a perfect opportunity. Remember, we use School-Day for permission forms, on-line payments, and information. You can opt to pay by cheque or cash if you are uncomfortable with on-line payments too!

The Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (CPIC) of the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is conducting an information night in our school on the theme: "Mental Health For Every Age" on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Light refreshments will be included.

This event will be led by our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Pat Carney. There will also be 3 breakout sessions to choose from: 1) Primary; 2) Junior / Intermediate; 3) Secondary.

These events are open to all Parents of our school community. You can register here: Mental Health for Every Age Registration Form for this event. Deadline for registration is October 24th. We hope to see you there.

Although we just had a PA day on September 29th, there is another one scheduled for Friday, October 13th. No school for students but teachers will be participating in workshops and conferences dedicated to improving student achievement. We will have another PA Day on November 17.

We thank you for your contributions to the Thanksgiving Food Drive. Totals aren't in yet, but we raised a considerable amount for the food bank. Later this fall we will be participating in a fundraising event for the food bank with the South Simcoe Police called The Copper Cup, where a student hockey team will play in a game against the police all-stars! This will be a great community activity involving us and Bradford High. More details to come on this exciting event!

Coming up on November 10 is our semi-formal dinner dance at Cardinal Golf & CC in Newmarket. Tickets are $50 each for students who have paid their student fees. Please use School-Day to purchase tickets.

We hope you have a blessed and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends!
