End of Week 10
Published on Nov 9, 2018 18:11

Hi everyone

We have had an exciting sports week here with our Girls Jr. Basketball team defeating Patrick Fogarty CSS for the CSASC Championship, and then Georgian Bay Secondary School for the GBSSA Semi-Final game. They play for the GBSSA Championship next week here at home. Looking forward to seeing them complete their perfect season as champs. Way to go, girls!

We also marked Remembrance Day today with presentations by Ruth Brooks of the Royal Canadian Legion, Corporal Kidd, a Canadian Forces member from Base Borden, and our own drama students. Thanks to Mr. Strycharz, Mrs. Batt-Garrocho, Mr. MacGregor and the D-Day Trip students for their organization of the day.

The DDay Course Trip is holding a Christmas fundraiser. The students are selling Poinsettia Gift Cards from Bradford Greenhouses and Evergreen Wreaths from Drysdale's Tree Farm.  The current selling period will be closed by November 19th with deliveries to happen at the beginning of December. If you have a desire to purchase either one of these please contact either Mrs. Batt-Garrocho or Mr. Strycharz via email (below). They will either take your orders directly or take orders on behalf of  students. Thank you for your continued support.

Tonight is also our annual Semi-formal Dinner Dance. 170 students will dine and dance in style at Cardinal Golf and Country Club. A reminder to parents that these kinds of events are advertised to you via School-Day, so please be sure your notifications are turned on!

Next week is a short week as we have a PA Day on Friday the 16th. In addition, our Grade 9's will take part in Take Our Kids to Work Day, and while they are out of the building, we will host our feeder school Grade 8's, and then that night we are hosting our elementary school dance. It promises to be a busy week!

Other upcoming events include our fall school spirit assembly on the 20th, and our grade 10 Holocaust Museum trip on the 30th.

A couple of reminders as the weather starts to turn snowy: don't forget to listen to local radio stations, follow us on Twitter (@Trinity_Tigers), and watch your emails in the mornings for notifications of bus cancellations. We try to get the word out as early as possible so that you are not taking needless risks on the roads on snowy mornings. Remember that if buses are cancelled, the school remains open (except in extreme weather conditions), but students are automatically excused for the day if they are unable to attend due to weather.

Don't forget about the Travel Credit Info night at St. Joseph's Catholic High School on November 20th. This is similar to the info night we held here, so if you missed out you have another opportunity. I have emailed students directly and sent home a voice message about it.

Finally, we will be sending information to all students soon about the annual Christmas Activity Day. This year, the date will be Friday December 21. Let's hope this year it isn't snowed out like last year. It is a great day of fun and adventure for all students with a range of activities available. Looking forward to it!

Watch out for snow this weekend and stay safe.

God bless

Brian McKenzie,
Principal
