End of Week 12
Published on May 4, 2018 18:17

Hi everyone,

I hope you received your teen's report card and have had some good conversations about the importance of school. We will have one final communication letter going home a bit later before the end of the semester. Please contact teachers if you have questions or concerns about the marks/comments.

With the warm weather many students are coming to school in non-uniform shorts. Our uniform supplier, DGN Kilters, was here today in their mobile sales van, and will be here again on the 18th. If your teen needs shorts you can buy them there or order online. Students must be in uniform to be in class.

We also have many students wearing flip-flops, thong sandals, slippies, and other unsafe footwear. We do not want anyone getting hurt so please remind your teen to wear proper shoes to school.

In addition to our D-Day Trip next year we have another exciting and innovative credit-based travel opportunity for next year. Students interested in earning a HRE4M course that culminates in a trip to Israel next March should stop by the main office to pick up a letter of interest (or click here to get a copy). We are holding a parent information night Monday, May 14 at 6:30 pm for interested families. This is an incredible opportunity for students to visit the very places where Jesus walked during his ministry on earth. We hope you will join us on the 14th.

Next week is Catholic Education Week as well as Mental Health Week. We are planning a number of events for these two coinciding themes, including our Walk for Social Justice/Pilgrimage, school mass, Honour Roll breakfast, Good News Awards, and the Spin for Mental Health event. We are blessed to have Catholic Education in Ontario. Please show your support by registering to vote in the next municipal election and ensure you are listed as an eligible Separate (Catholic) school supporter on your MPAC forms. Visit voterlookup.ca. The Voter Lookup tool is a quick and easy way to check to see if your tax support is directed to the Catholic system. This is important not only to show your support for Catholic education in our province, but also to ensure you can vote for your local Catholic school trustee this October.

Don't forget that May 21st is the Victoria Day holiday - though I'm sure none of the students needs any reminder of a day off school.

I hope everyone has a restful and enjoyable weekend.

God bless,

Brian McKenzie,
Principal
