Jersey Day In Support of the Humboldt Broncos
Published on Apr 11, 2018 12:16

Hi everyone,

By now you have all heard of the unspeakable tragedy that unfolded over the weekend in Saskatchewan. As parents, we understand the nightmare that the families of the hockey players lost in that terrible accident are currently living. The Holy Trinity Catholic High School Community sends out its thoughts and prayers to all those affected.

As you may know, a social media campaign began to have tomorrow (Thursday, April 12) declared team jersey day in schools across Canada as a show of moral and emotional support for the people of Humboldt. Holy Trinity is participating in this event so all students are encouraged to wear their favourite team jersey or shirt over their uniform pants.

We are not asking for a monetary donation. However, we encourage all families who wish to show their support to consider one or more of the following options:

If your teen is driving, or will soon obtain a driver's license, this might also be a good time to have another talk about the importance of road safety. Although there is no indication that drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or any other unsafe behaviour was involved in this accident, it is still important to remember how quickly driving in any motor vehicle can turn deadly. Please know that we will continue to offer MADD Canada and OSAID presentations to our students about the dangers of impaired and/or distracted driving. We hope and pray we never have to face what the friends, families, schoolmates and neighbours of the Humboldt Broncos are facing.

Hug your kids a little tighter, and God bless,

Brian McKenzie
