End of Week 3
Published on Feb 23, 2018 18:20

Hi everyone,

This was shorter than expected week with the holiday and weather cancellation! We have received, and been asked to pass along, a number of advisories about water and flooding so please be careful around any moving water, including streams, rivers, creeks and lakes. There have been a number of reports of vehicles falling through the ice on Lake Simcoe as well, so if you are an angler check ice conditions before going out.

Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) Support

Image of mother and childTo the mom hiding in the bathroom, with tears rolling down her cheeks. To the dad who has lost his patience and is yelling at the kids again. To the parents who feel alone, raising kids can be hard, challenging and messy. You are not alone! Triple P Positive Parenting programs can help. Call Health Connection at 1-877-721-7520 for one-on-one support over the phone, choose a group session close to home or an online course. Check out www.triplep-parenting.ca.
Parent Council Meeting
Reminder of our upcoming CSCC (Parent Council) meeting on March 5 at 6pm. All parents are welcome. Please use the RSVP form to let us know if you are attending. I know some parents experienced difficulty with using it -- for best results opening it on a desktop computer is recommended. We will have a couple of items to discuss, including the PRO Grants for 2018-19 as well as a glimpse ahead to the 2018-19 school year (hint: we are growing!).

Over the next couple of weeks we have a number of things going on:

  • Our Swim Team is heading to Windsor for the OFSAA Championships. We wish them the best of luck.
  • Our French students are attending the Lula Afrique show on Tuesday. This is a wonderful interactive presentation of traditional African music and dance.
  • Our Parent Meeting for the D-Day 75th Anniversary Trip is taking place Wednesday night at 7pm in the library.
  • Wednesday is also Pink Shirt Day, when students show their support for respectful relationships and non-violence by wearing a pink shirt (uniform pants required).
  • March 7th we will be holding our Spring Elementary School Dance. Students from our feeder schools in gr. 6-8 are welcome to attend. Thanks to Mrs. McArthur and the Athletic Council for organizing!
  • Progress reports and IEP's will be coming home as well in the coming week. Parent-teacher interviews will be March 29th from 5-7:30pm by appointment through School-Day.

Finally, a huge thank you to all our winter sports coaches and athletes for a great season. We are moving into our Spring Sports season soon as the good weather (we pray) returns.

Have a wonderful weekend,

God bless
