End of Exams
Published on Jan 31, 2018 09:31

Hi everyone,

Well, that was fast! We have now finished exams. Students return to classes on Monday February 5. Homeroom lists will be posted in the main lobby, and semester 2 timetables will be distributed in homeroom. Timetable changes are handled by guidance by appointment on a priority basis starting with grade 12's.

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board will be taking part in MASH Bash this year and invites all families to come out for a day full of skiing, snowboarding and activities. Tickets are $25.00 and include all events and activities and an all-day/night ski and snowboard pass. All proceeds go to the Child and Youth Mental Health Centre at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. Tickets can be purchased at mashbash.ca.

We will be holding our next Catholic School Community Council Meeting on Monday, February 12 at 6 pm in the library. All parents are welcome to attend. Please RSVP here if you are planning to attend. Among other things, we will have a look at the coming semester as well as our plans for next year's mission trip and history trip. For more information about the Catholic School Community Council, please contact Robert Ben, Chair.

Semester 1 final report cards will be issued during the week of February 12. I will send an update when we finalize the day.

Christmas Activity Day, which was postponed due to weather, has been rescheduled for Friday, February 16 (which is also the Family Day long weekend). Students will attend the various activities they've signed up for either away from school or in the school. Huge thanks to Mr. Burke for all his work in planning (and then re-planning) this fun day for all students.

I know June seems far off, but for those of you with graduating students please save Thursday June 28 for graduation! We will provide more information about tickets as the date draws near. As well, Friday June 1st is Prom Night. Our Prom Committee is hard at work planning to make this a memorable event for our students. Thanks to Mrs. Nogalo and her team for all their work.

And finally, a parking lot procedures reminder (pictures below):

  • Back lot: please enter the lot and make a left hand turn to make a one-way loop. Do not stop in the entry, and do not turn to the right to drop your teen off close to the doors. At pick up time, please follow the same procedures. The area past the doors is an emergency access route for the tech shops and cannot be blocked by cars lined up waiting for students. We continue to have congestion in the back lot, which creates a safety hazard for our students and staff. Your cooperation is appreciated.
  • Front lot: please enter the lot off Melbourne and proceed to the western end of the parking lot to make a loop around the parking boulevard. Use the centre lane of the lot for drop-off/pickup. The lane to the right is for buses only (and the drivers are not shy about letting you know).

That's all for now. I will resume the regular weekly messages starting February 9!

God bless,
