The Copper Cup on November 29 was an exciting event. Bradford’s police played a game of hockey against students from both Bradford District High School and Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Both schools encouraged their classes to bring in canned goods for local food banks as admission to the first annual hockey tournament.

The Social Justice Club at Holy Trinity helped the Police put this fun event together. The money and food the students brought were donated to local food banks within the Bradford community.

Mike Adams, one of the players on the Police’s team said, “I thought it was really cool, I had a lot of fun and it looked like the students did too.” He laughed, “They were better players than us, faster too.”

Both teams fought hard to win the first annual Copper Cup, and the victory went to the students from Holy Trinity Catholic H.S. and Bradford District H.S. Student Cam M., from Bradford District High School commented, “It was really nice that students from both schools came together to play against the police officers. It was for a good cause and we won!”

The Copper Cup will become a part of both schools traditions and everyone is already eager for next year’s match-up.
